Cadets take part in Anglo-Belgian Whitehall Remembrance parade

Anglo-Belgian Whitehall Remembrance parade at the CenotaphOn Sunday 18 th July Air Cadets from 121 (Nuneaton) and 198 (Hinckley) Squadrons took part in an Anglo-Belgian Remembrance Parade at the Cenotaph in London .

The Air Cadets and their staff together with members of the Royal Air Forces Association and other British ex service associations joined Belgian regular forces, cadets and veterans who were in London to take part in the annual Whitehall parade to remember fallen Belgian soldiers from two world wars and other conflicts.

The Anglo-Belgian Remembrance Parade is in fact quite unique in that Belgium is the only non-Commonwealth country whose armed forces are allowed to bear arms at the yearly Cenotaph parade in London , a privilege granted to them by King George V.

During the service in Whitehall , the Nuneaton based cadets; Flight Sergeant Alice Hartopp, Sergeant Paige Howitt, Cdt Corey Alcock and James Talbot had the honour of laying wreaths on the Cenotaph on behalf of the Royal Air Forces Association and other ex-service organisations.

Cadet Kenneth James had the privilege of carrying the Standard of the Hinckley Branch of the Royal Air Forces Association during the parade.

After the service Belgian and British veterans, regular forces and cadet contingents marched past the Cenotaph as the parade made its way along Whitehall to Horse Guards Parade.
