On Sunday 26th July the Band of 121 ( Nuneaton ) Squadron brought a ray of sunshine to the faces of the elderly residents and guests of the Cow Lees Nursing Home who braved the inclement weather conditions during their summer fete.

The weather threatened to put a damper on all the hard work that had gone into the preparations for the Cow Lees summer fete, but no matter how dull things got and with the imminent prospect of yet another sudden heavy summer shower the Air Cadet Band played on.

Much to the delight of the enthusiastic audience of residents, friends and family members, the 121 Squadron Band played a variety of wartime favourites, traditional marches and other popular tunes. It was also a good opportunity for the band to play their own renditions of other well known songs which included the Beatles classic “Let It Be”, Elvis Presley's “Are You Lonesome Tonight” and Ben E King's “Stand by Me”, all of which have been newly introduced into the band's repertoire for the 2009 season.

Mr John O'Sullivan proprietor of the Cow Lees Nursing Home said, “I was really impressed with the band and you could see just how much the residents enjoyed listening to the young musicians. They were all singing and clapping along in time to the music, it was a real treat for them and I would like to extend my thanks to the Band for coming along and helping to make the day a success.”
