What a Dickens of a Night

Times gone by came alive once again to herald in the season of turkey and tinsel as members of the 121 ( Nuneaton ) Squadron manned one of the charity stalls at the Atherstone Dickens Night.

Members of the Civilian Committee, Cadets and staff manned one of the large number of stalls in the Atherstone Market Square as an estimated 10,000 revellers piled into the streets to enjoy the massive North Warwickshire event.

The Squadrons Civilian Committee ran a Tombola and Lucky Dip which raised £303.50, whilst members of staff and cadets were on hand to tell potential recruits and their parents all about life in the Air Cadets.

All the stalls and street entertainment of the Dickens Night set a perfect prelude to the towns Christmas lights switch on. The evening's entertainment ended with a grand musical firework finale which lit up the night sky to herald the start of the Christmas season.

Flt Lt Paul Hincks, Officer in Charge of 121 (Nuneaton) Squadron said, “It's been a very successful evening from both the fundraising and public relations perspectives as well as being an ideal opportunity for Committee members, uniformed staff and cadets to work together, something I would like to see happen more often in the future”.
