121 ( Nuneaton ) Squadron's football team are back up on cloud nine having qualified for the Semi-finals of the Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing Soccer championships for the second year in succession.
On the 12 th December 2010 , 121 ( Nuneaton ) squadron played 165 (Castle Bromwich) Squadron on their home turf. For the Nuneaton lads this match was time for some pay back, Castle Bromwich having beaten Nuneaton 5 ~ 1 in the Semi-finals of last years championships.
The game started with both sides evenly matched with both teams managing to threaten each other's goals. However as the game progressed Nuneaton eventually managed to take the upper hand to finish the match with a 5~ 3 win, thus placing then into the Semi-finals of the Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing Soccer championships for the second year in succession.
After the match 121 ( Nuneaton ) Squadron's goalkeeper Liam Tuff said, “Our lads played really well today and they thoroughly deserved to win. We all worked hard and were determined to win, it wasn't all one sided by any means and as goalkeeper, I would have preferred not to have been on the receiving end of so many good shots from 165. I can't help but say that this win over Castle Bromwich today is especially sweet after they knocked us out in the Semi-finals of last years championship.”
