On Sunday 20 th April the Band of 121 (Nuneaton) Squadron led hundreds of young people through the streets of Bedworth in a procession of St George's Day pride.

The Air Cadet band played their renditions of traditional patriotic march music as they led More than 600 Scouts, Cubs and Beavers from the Nuneaton and Bedworth district in the towns St George's Day Parade in homage to England's Patron Saint.

Pride of place as the first scout group in this years parade went to the 1st Nuneaton (Attleborough) Scouts, one of the oldest Scout Groups in the world which was celebrating it’s 100 year of operation.

Led by the band from the Nuneaton Air Cadets, the Scouts, Scout Leaders, Cubs and Beavers marched through the town to Nicholas Chamberlaine Technology College for a service and a traditional re-enactment of the slaying of the dragon by St George himself. Well it was one of the scouts really but the score was the same as usual St George for England, one Dragons, Nil.

Following the service the parade re-formed and marched back to Bedworth town centre for the march past with the salute being taken by The Mayor of Nuneaton and Bedworth Cllr Bill Sheppard and Bill Olner MP.

Flt Lt Ian Crewe Officer Commanding 121 Squadron said, “The Scouts are among the few local organisations that observe St George's Day and we are only too pleased to be invited to take part in their parade.
