Nuneaton Based Air Cadets Receive RAFA Wings Appeal Trophy

Mr Bill Taylor, Chairman of the Coventry branch of the Royal Air Forces Association presented the Royal Air Forces Association Wings Appeal Trophy to Ryan Easterlow - Click to EnlargeOn Friday 23 January Members of Coventry Branch of the Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA) presented the Air Cadets from Nuneaton and Bedworth with the Coventry Branch Wings Appeal Trophy in recognition of their outstanding efforts in support of the RAFA Wings Appeal.

Mr Paul Adams , the Coventry Branch Royal Air Forces Association Wings Appeal organiser opened the evening's proceedings by announcing the fact that the cadets from 121 ( Nuneaton ) Squadron had won the prestigious Coventry Branch, Wings Appeal Trophy for the second year in succession. The Wings Appeal Trophy is awarded to the Coventry area Air Cadet unit that raises the most money during the 'Battle of Britain Wings Appeal' street collections, which took place on 27 th September last year. Mr Taylor commended the cadets for their efforts in raising the outstanding sum of £737 for the Royal Air Forces Association welfare fund.

Mr Alf Perry (in centre) - Click to EnlargeMr Adams also praised the efforts of fellow Royal Air Forces Association members David Palmer and Alf Perry who also serves on the Civilian Committee of 121 Squadron for organising the Nuneaton street collection. Mr Adams concluded by expressing the thanks of the Royal Air Forces Association to everyone who so generously contributed to the street collections throughout the Nuneaton and Bedworth area.

Mr Bill Taylor, Chairman of the Coventry branch of the Royal Air Forces Association presented the Coventry Branch, Royal Air Forces Association Wings Appeal Trophy to fifteen-year-old Bedworth youngster Ryan Easterlow who received the award on behalf of the cadets of 121 Squadron.

Flight Lieutenant Ian Crewe Officer Commanding 121 ( Nuneaton ) Squadron said, "We are delighted to have retained the Wings Appeal Trophy for the second year. The Royal Air Forces Association provides help and support for former members of the RAF and their families. With approximately 80,000 members and 500 branches in the UK the RAFA needs all the help it can get and our cadets were delighted to be able to do their bit for the 'Battle of Britain Wings Appeal'.
