Cadets meet Terry Waite at the Far East Prisoners of War reunion

Cdt Nicholls and Roberts meet Terry Waite CBEOn 11th August 2007 , Cadets from Stratford upon Avon Sqn, Air Training Corps, gave support to the annual reunion of the Far East Prisoners of War. This year held special significance as it marked 65 years since the fall of Singapore and the beginning of their captivity. To commemorate this, members of the FEPOW have launched a book which for the first time, tells the diaries of the captured. The group believe they are the first to publish a book documenting such things, with primary source material.

Presiding over the occasion was the former Beirut hostage, Terry Waite, CBE, who is one of the patrons of the Children and Families of the Far East Prisoners of War. Cadets in attendance got to meet with Mr. Waite and were able to ask about his experiences. Lunch was served and the day was a great success.

In addition to this, cadets were also able to meet Officers of the US Marine Corps and the Australian Army, who were acting in capacity of the Commonwealth High Commission representatives.
