A day trip like no other for Air Cadets at RAF Benson

RAF Benson in Oxfordshire has opened its gates to Air Cadets from 1368 Warwick & Leamington Spa Squadron. The Visit allowed the Air Cadets an insight into the workings of one of the UK 's busiest helicopter units RAF Benson, Benson is part of the British Joint Helicopter Command and hosts 28 Sqn Merlin & 33 Sqn Puma helicopters as well as University Air Squadron and Thames Valley Police Helicopter.

The Cadets spent the day being shown around the most sophisticated Military helicopters currently in service and dropped by some support units such as the RAF Fire & Rescue Service and Air Traffic Control which are all essential assets which allow the helicopters to operate effectively in this modern climate.

Cadet Peake explains "The visit to RAF Benson is extremely good with so much happening. The helicopters are brilliant and it's great that we can all get on board and look around them and it's certainly not your average day trip".

The day also allowed the Air Cadets from 1368 Sqn to hand over to the Padre at the Station Church a myriad of Christmas shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child a project run by the Samaritan's.

Sgt Furness 1368 Sqn Visit Organiser explains "It's great that we can be in partnership with RAF Bensons charity drive and help the children in over 13 countries around the world have a better Christmas this year".
