12 Air Cadets from 1368 Squadron (Warwick & Leamington Spa) squadron have spent the half term week on the waves catching the fast approaching winter breeze while sailing at Upton warren Outdoor Centre, Activity Lake.
The days spent at Upton Warren were intense with so much information to take on board, with a mixture of theory and practical phases. But with plenty of commitment and dedication from all the cadets and staff over the week everyone achieved their national accredited RYA Level 1 sailing certificate.
Cadet David Knight a newly enrolled member of the Squadron said ' I've thoroughly enjoyed the sailing expedition and I look forward to the future expeditions, these kind of activities make the Air Training Corps what it is all about. Venture Adventure'.
Service Instructor Simon Watson expedition organiser explained ' all the cadets exceeded in their ability to adapt to new challenges which was a credit to themselves, although I do think they were all a bit hesitant on doing the capsize drills, in what felt like at the time the coldest lake ever. when swimming in it' . |
