£600 sets Air Cadets off to a Flyer!

On Monday evening – 21 st Dec 2009 , 12 cadets from 163 (Coventry Phoenix) Squadron Air Training Corps swapped their TA Centre base, in Canley, Coventry for Sainsburys , to do some festive bag packing.

There was a great atmosphere in store and the cadets worked non-stop. The staff and customers of Sainsburys were in fine festive spirit , as in just 3 hours, the cadets had raised a total of £600.00. Despite some tired faces and sore legs, they were justifiably proud of themselves!

Flt Lt Les Vile, Officer Commanding 163 Squadron, said, “the aim of the fundraising was to raise enough money to fund our squadron minibus for 2010 and I am very pleased with how much we have raised. My cadets did themselves proud during the evening and I received lots of positive feedback from customers who took a moment to tell me how smart the cadets looked and how polite and friendly they were. I would like to thank Sainsburys for the opportunity and their customers for their generosity.”

163 Squadron are currently recruiting new cadets, aged 13-16. If you would like to find out more, please contact the Squadron headquarters on 02476 854929.
