With Summer in full swing and outside temperatures rising, Cadets from No 163 (Coventry-Phoenix) Sqn turned up the heat inside the Coleshill Branch of Melbicks Garden Centre during the weekend of Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 July 2010 with an awesome display of bag packing.

Undertaken to raise funds for the Sqn, the cadets ensured that all the Centre's customers shopping was safely and professionally packed and with some of the cadets being present on both days, the level of enthusiasm and motivation from all who took part was evident throughout.

Although this activity would be a first for some of the Sqn's newer cadets, helpful hints and tips received from the other cadets soon calmed any nerves enabling these cadets to get into their stride and pack anything that came their way.

Taking a break from the frantic pace at the checkouts, the cadets were able to have a look around the centre and in addition to making purchases of refreshments, some of the cadets also made some unusual friends.

Flight Lieutenant L Vile RAFVR(T), Officer Commanding 163 Squadron said; “seeing the motivation and determination exhibited by the Cadets was fantastic. It's moments like these that make me proud to be the Commanding Officer of such a great group of Cadets. They are a Credit to the Corps, the Sqn and themselves and the hard work that they have put into this weekend has helped to raise a sizzling £870”.
