Air Cadets come down to Earth for D of E Community Service

In just two hours Air Cadets from No 163 (Coventry-Phoenix) Squadron swapped air skills for earth skills as part of their Community Service Element for their Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Showing that nothing is a challenge for them, the Cadets dug deep to assist the staff of Willowbrook Old Peoples Home in Coventry in the gardens with weeding, trimming, planting and general tidying.

Two hours later and following some very hard and dedicated work, the Cadets efforts were clearly visible and were very much appreciated by the staff of the home.

Flight Lieutenant Les Vile RAFVR(T), Officer Commanding No 163 (Coventry-Phoenix) Squadron said; “This has been an opportunity for the Cadets to promote themselves and the Squadron within the local community. The results achieved through the hard work and motivation of the Cadets is a shining example of teamwork at its best and is just one of the things that makes being the Commanding Officer of the Squadron a very rewarding experience”.
