From Nuneaton to Wellesbourne and now just a short distance from their Squadron Headquaters, cadets from No 163 (Coventry-Phoenix) Squadron were back in action on Sun 29 Jun 09, this time assisting members of The Coventry Round Table at the Coventry Fun Run.
An annual event in the Squadron's busy calendar saw the Cadets carrying out the duty of course directors thus ensuring that the competitors remained on the right route as they passed through the Squadron's pre-assigned area.
Also providing support with encouragement for the runners, the Cadets also had the chance of cheering on Cadet Corporal E Tabram, also from No 163 Sqn, who was taking part in the run.
Cadet Corporal Enya Tabram said, “I started training one month before the run. I decided to run in fancy dress, so I made a costume based on flowers and ran with my friend. Because of the heat we struggled but we finished in good time. We were supported by the Cadets from my Squadron. Overall I had a very enjoyable day.”
Flight Lieutenant L Vile RAFVR(T), Officer Commanding 163 Squadron said; “once again the Cadets pulled out all the stops to do their part in ensuring that the event was successful. For some of the newer Cadets, this type of activity was a first, but they were completely un-phased and did what they were there to do. In addition to being able to assist The Coventry Round Table, the added bonus for the Squadron was being able to see Cadet Corporal E Tabram taking part and furthermore giving her vocal support.” |
