Royal Marines drop in on 163 Squadron

On Wednesday evening – 10 th February 2010, 2 Commandos from the Royal Marines outreach team joined cadets from 163 (Coventry Phoenix) Squadron.

For the first part of the evening, the Commandos gave the cadets an exciting presentation about life in the Royal Marines, from the gruelling basic training to life on the front line. The cadets were enlightened to their lifestyle, their day to day job as well and their courage and bravery.

The cadets were then tested in a session of physical training – Royal Marine style! In a non-stop session, from stress positions to squatting ducks, they completed the exercise and most were still smiling. The commandos then presented three commando water bottles to the three cadets whose personalities stood out.

The cadets really enjoyed the evening with one commenting, “ it was great to do something different. The classroom presentation had me hooked and I am still out of breath from the sports, but it was great fun.”
