After an extremely impressive and ultimately winning performance in the 2011 Inter Squadron Netball Competition, 163 Squadron arrived at the Wing Netball Trials for the 2011-2012 team with a strong showing of five cadets attending to compete for a place on the squad. In addition to the five taking part, another three of the male cadets attended to show their support for the girls and offer encouragement and beverages on tap.
Sgt Elloise Messam, Cpl Chloe Morrow, Cdt Hayley McDermott, Cdt Paige Hopkins and Cdt Emily Messam put on excellent performances, and indicated that the 163 Squadron Netball Team will be a force to be reckoned with for the 2012 competition. After an unusually high turnout of 42 cadets competing for places on the squad, the staff and supporters of the squadron were very proud to hear that 2 of the squadron's cadets, Sgt Elloise Messam and Cdt Emily Messam, sisters of a 3 year age gap, had both been selected for the Wing team's final ten.
The squadron are thrilled to have this representation and experience at Wing level, and are very pleased to see Emily following in her older sister's footsteps, demonstrating great maturity and sporting prowess. In addition to the excellent, committed attitude of the other three cadets, 163 are looking to another exciting year on the sporting calendar.
