Third Stripe for Top Cadet

163 Squadron is proud to present its newest Cadet Sergeant, Yiannis Cole.

He was promoted to the rank after his hard work and commitment to the squadron over recent months. He has assisted with the training of new cadets, maintained high standards of uniform and discipline and has keenly volunteered to lead the Squadron Drill Squad for Wing Training Day. He has actively participated in fund raising events, competitions and adventure training and has been an asset to the squadron.

He was promoted to Corporal in mid 2010, and has excelled in that rank to the point where his Commanding Officer, Flt Lt Les Vile, felt it was time he corrected his ‘improper dress’ by replacing his Corporal stripes with those of a Sergeant.

gt Cole is now looking forward to beginning the sports and competition season at the forefront of the squadron, and leading the rest of the cadets forward in their performances.

Hard work pays off for five cadets

On the 4th of April months of hard work finally paid off for five cadets at 163 ( Coventry phoenix) squadron as they were awarded with their first class badges.

Cadets Evans, Smith, Mason, Byrne and Halligan were awarded their classification after completing the first class syllabus which comprises of academic subjects which are followed by a test along with a drill examination.

As these cadets now hold a first class classification they are able to attend activities such as flying and participate in station visits such as the planned squadron visit to RAF Lyneham set to take place on the 11th of April.

The commanding officer Flt Lt Vile stated that he was very pleased the effort shown by these cadets over the past few months.
