Senior Girls Sporting Treble

The girls of 163 (Coventry Phoenix) squadron are celebrating a Wing sporting treble having won the senior girls trophy at all three Wing sporting events in 2010.

The girls' first success came back in May when the girls achieved nine individual and relay medals at the Wing athletics competition and went on to win the senior girls trophy.

In September, the girls successfully defended their senior girls' trophy at the Wing Swimming Championships. The team of 5 girls picked up points in almost every event and a fabulous individual performance by our only junior girl, Cadet Messam, gave the girls a superior combined total and they were also awarded with the combined girls' trophy.

The treble was completed at the Wing Cross Country Championships in November, where once again the senior girls were triumphant, with the best placed girls finishing 1 st , 3 rd and 13 th to take the trophy.

The achievements this year were even more significant, with the Squadron having lost the Wing Female Sports Cadet for 2008 and 2009, FS Ellie Whittle, early in 2010.

The girls were recently presented with all their trophies, by Squadron Leader Foster and Commanding Officer Flt Lt Vile, at the Squadron's parent's evening and awards night. Flt Lt Vile spoke of the girls' motivation, determination and commitment to the Squadron and well as his pride of their achievements and successes in 2010.
