Corporal Kasie CadbyOn Sunday 7 th February and live from the Mail Box in Birmingham three cadets from 165 (Castle Bromwich) Squadron, Cadet Joe Insull, Corporal Kasie Cadby and Flight Sergeant Steve Wright, along with the Squadron Commander Flight Lieutenant James Martin, were invited onto the Professor Carl Chin show on BBC Radio WM.

Following a brief intro from Carl about the contact between himself and 165 Squadron the conversation moved onto a question and answer session with the Squadron Commander, before the air waves were filled with the sound of Corporal Kasie Cadby. For those of you who know her, Kasie doesn't need any encouragement to talk and she didn't disappoint the listene rs. Kasie went on to describe the flight's that she had undertaken in Puma and Chinook helicopters when she had been on some of the annual camps during her time with 165 Squadron.

During the 25 minute live broadcast a number of listeners called in including an original Air Defence Cadet Corps member of 165 ( Fort Dunlop ) Squadron as it was in 1940. This was followed by Flight Sergeant Steve Wright talking away to the West Midlands and inviting youngsters to go and visit their local Squadron to see for themselves what it can be like in the Air Training Corps.

The next caller to the show was Mrs Barbara Johnson who is the Chairman of the Birmingham Air Raid Remembrance Association, an organisation very close to Carl Chin's heart. Barbara thanked the Squadron for the assistance that was given to BARRA by 165 Squadron at last years Annual Memorial Service at St Martin 's in the Bullring and she invited the Squadron again for 2010 live on air.

Cadet Joe Insull was the youngest member of the Radio crew but that didn't stop him telling all of the listeners of his enjoyment of all of the activities and events that he has been involved with during the 18 months that he has been with 165 Squadron.

The last caller to the show was another ex-cadet of the Squadron, Paul ‘Pablo' Mason, the famous Gulf War pilot, who had contacted the show to tell Carl of how proud he was of all of the cadets and of the Squadron as a whole.

Throughout the broadcast Warrant Officer Jerry Elston was busy taking pictures of the Radio Star's of the future.

The show finished with the Squadron Commander giving out the Wing Website Address for all prospective cadets to find their local Squadron.
