9 Cadets from 165 (Castle Bromwich) and 487 (Kingstanding & Perry Barr) Squadrons, along with Flight Lieutenant James Martin, OC 165 Squadron and Squadron Leader Chris Mumford, the Special Projects Officer for Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing attended the Formal Flag Raising Ceremony to mark the start of Armed Forces Week in Birmingham City Centre.

The event, which was staged outside the portico of Birmingham Council House on Monday 21 st June, was hosted by the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Len Gregory and 8 Standards from the Royal British Legion.
Armed Forces Week is the annual focal point for the Armed Forces and is used to raise the profile and public awareness of the Armed Forces and the Air Training Corps are fully committed to assisting in this very public tribute to our Service men and women.
Following the Flag Raising by the Lord Mayor, the Cadets and Standard Bearers were inspected and thanked personally before being invited into the Lord Mayor's Parlour for refreshments.
The Lord Mayor said “It is wonderful to see the young people taking part in this Ceremony which supports our Service men and Women who are committed all over the world. I hope to see more of the Cadets next Saturday at the Armed Forces Parade and Church Service at St Martin's Church.”
Squadron Leader Mumford thanked the Cadets for giving up there Monday morning to represent the Wing on this occasion.
