Squadron Warrant Officer Gerry Elston has been recognised, again, for his long service with 165 Squadron Air Cadets.
On the evening of Tuesday 23 rd September, Wing Commander Ladwa visited the Squadron, based in Cadbury Drive , to present Gerry with his Third Repeat 'PIP' to his Cadet Forces Medal (CFM). The three repeats along with the First CFM add up to over 34 years of Adult Uniform Service with the Air Training Corps, a remarkable achievement.
The Squadrons Commanding Officer, Flight Lieutenant James Martin said, "The level and length of commitment shown by Warrant Officer Elston is very impressive. Gerry is a former resident of Castle Vale and his association with the area is now in its fifth decade. When I first joined 165 Squadron in January 1979 Gerry was the Squadron Warrant Officer, a position that he still holds today. I am fortunate to have been taught by him as a Cadet and to now be able to ask his advice still. I thank him for his service to the ATC and the community. I would also like to thank Wing Commander Ladwa for making the presentation personally"
