165 Squadron HQ officially re-opened

The 165 (Castle Bromwich) Squadron HQ was officially re-opened, following a major refurbishment and extension, on Sunday 8th October 2006 .

The Guest of Honour was Air Marshal Sir Roger Austin KCB AFC FRAeS RAF (Retired). other guests included Wing Commander Ladwa, the Wing Chairman, Ann Permain and her husband Julian, former Wing Ad O Sqn Ldr AJ Phillips along with some members of the Motivational Outreach Team of the AFCO. Thanks also go to
Flt Lt Ed Wilson and 3 cadets from 495 Sqn who provided the Trumpet Fanfare and General Salute. 

Overseeing and co-ordinating the event was the new Squadron Commander,
Flt Lt James Martin, an ex-cadet of 165 Sqn. 

Newly promoted Inst Cdt FS Gemma Bakewell and Emma Hart were both presented with their 1000 Hours MV Certificates by the Air Marshal who also made the promotion to the two girls, along with promotion to the rank of Cdt FS for Katie Seazell and Inst Cdt Sgt for Robert Owen. Sir roger Austin also presented Duke Of Edinburgh's Adult Service Certificates to Flt Lt Bob Eccles (20 Years),
WO Gerry Elston (30 Years) and CI Mike Ward with a very impressive 40 Years service.

The squadron also said a fond farewell to its Padre. Father Darren Miller has been padre for the last four years, although it seems like a lot longer than that! He is moving south to Surrey from November and all at 165 wish him well in his new ministery.
