165 (Castle Bromwich) Squadron
Annual presentation Evening

165 Squadron held its Annual Presentation evening last Saturday, 3 rd February at the St Cuthbert of Lindisfarne Church on Castle Vale. Among the guests were Wing Commander PP Ladwa, the Wing Chairman Mrs Ann Permain and the Wing Ado Sqn Ldr Gibbs. The 27 cadets in attendance on the night were presented to the two Guests of Honour, The Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Mike Sharpe, and Captain Paul 'Pablo' Mason, 1 st Gulf War pilot and former cadet of the Squadron.

Each cadet was presented with their own individual achievements for 2006 by the Lord Mayor whilst the third place, runner-up and winner of each of the Squadron's Trophies were presented by Pablo. The evening was supported by over 150 people plus the cadets and the whole evening was deemed to be a successful night by all who were there.

Three special awards were made to FS Emma Hart who won the Outstanding Achievement Cup for gaining her B.E.L. Award, an Individual Trophy to FS Gemma Bakewell for winning the 605 (County of Warwick) Squadron RAuxAF Flying Achievement Shield for the third year running and an Individual Trophy to SGT Ian Tiernan who has won the Jaguar Cars Sports Achievement Shield for an amazing four years running. He has now enlisted in the army and is undergoing training as
an armourer.
