The Deputy Mayor of Hinckley , Mr Martin Cartwright, accompanied by his Consort, Sue Cross, honoured No.198 ( Hinckley ) Squadron, Air Training Corps, by attending their Annual Dining-In Night and Awards Presentation evening, held at Hinckley Golf Club.
198 (Hinckley) Squadron Staff, cadets and civilians committee all joined together to celebrate their annual Dining in Night, with two more special guests present, Wing Commander Ladwa and Squadron Leader Coats. The evening commenced with a delicious three course meal with coffee and mints, followed by speeches from Deputy Mayor Martin Cartwright, Wing Commander Ladwa and the Squadron's Commanding Officer Flight Lieutenant Parry. However, the highlight of the evening, which the cadets and staff were itching for, was the awards ceremony.
The awards are there to recognize and appreciate the great effort individuals have given to the squadron. They are given to both staff and cadets, and really highlight the motivation, enthusiasm and drive these people have. The results are as follows:

The Alfred Bellfield Memorial Shield for exemplary service to the Squadron was awarded to Civilian Instructors Mike and Christine Perkins.
The Marie Dell Memorial Trophy for exceptional commitment to the Squadron was jointly awarded to Civilian Instructor Doug Hibbitt and Cadet Kieran Dyble.
The Phoenix Trophy (voted for by the team of Cadet NCOs) went to the former Padre Malcolm Fife with Warrant Officer Mike Hibbitt and Civilian Instructor Ray Cowlam as joint runner-up.
A final award, was given by Wing Commander Ladwa to Squadron Leader Bryan Coats for 30 years service .
Afterwards was the civilian committees raffle, and the night ended with a disco. Dining in Night is one of the most popular events of the cadet year, and allowed everyone there to reflect back and celebrate what an amazing year 198 Squadron had.
