Air Cadets prepare for Gliding Scholarship

Three cadets from 198 ( Hinckley ) Squadron, Air Training Corps recently attended and passed the very first Cockpit and Flight Simulation course held at the newly opened Royal Air Force Air Cadet Regional Activity Centre

The Centre, based at Royal Air Force Wyton in Cambridgeshire , boasts a state of the art flight simulator, and an Air Traffic Control simulator formerly operated at Manchester Airport .

Prior to qualifying as Glider pilots, in which the skills and knowledge needed to fly solo in Royal Air Force glider aircraft are gained, Cadets now have to attend this training facility to learn and practice safe piloting skills, thus ensuring they are knowledgeable and safer in the air under all circumstances.

Pilot Officer Martin Lovell commented “All three cadets are now undergoing Flight Training at RAF Syerston in Nottinghamshire, and this course has certainly given them a head start”
