On Saturday the 19th March 2011 five Cadets from 2028 Southam Squadron went to RAF Cosford for Air Experience Flying. They were all really looking forward to the experience. With limited slots available to 2028 they were all keen to enjoy the day and report back to the rest of the Squadron on their first opportunity to fly.
They arrived in the morning together with several other Squadrons and after everyone was briefed and shown how to wear their safety kit, the first Cadet took to the skies. As with the Gliding in February, the weather was fine and for the most part, blue skies with a few clouds, so visibility was once again amazing over Shropshire .
2028 Squadron now has a lot of new Cadets and everyone agreed that they should get first choice to go Flying and Gliding when the opportunities arise, although they didn't take much persuading! All five Cadets agreed what an amazing experience they had on the Saturday was that they all want to fly again.
Flight Lieutenant Moreton, CO of 2028 Squadron remarked “With Flying being one of the three Corps activities it is vital we use the slots available to us, this has been a great start to the year with all the Gliding and Flying slots allocated being snapped up by the Cadets. To see the looks on the faces of these ‘first time flyers' it fantastic, this is what the ATC is all about.”
