Over a two day period during the Easter week end Cadets and Staff from both 2028 Southam Squadron and 497 Daventry Squadron did ‘Bag-Packing' at a Supermarket in Daventry to raise funds.

On Friday the 21 st March 2008 Cadets accompanied by Flt Lt Moreton and Pilot Officer Hicks from 2028 Squadron joined Civilian Committee members and Cadets from Daventry.

On Saturday the 22 nd March 2008 the Cadets from Southam were accompanied by Sgt Caine and once again joined by Cadets from Daventry Squadron with their CO Flt Lt Broom and Civilian Committee members.

The staff at the Supermarket were exceptionally pleased to see the Cadets and provided them with sandwiches and drinks throughout both days. The Cadets ran a rota system so each of them could take a break whilst still helping with the bag packing.

Members of the public seemed delighted that their bags were being so expertly packed for them and how quickly they managed to get through the check outs. Once again everyone seemed to be more than willing to make a donation to the Squadron funds and more than one person commented on how smart and polite the cadets were.

Flight Lieutenant Moreton the CO of 2028 Squadron commented, “Bag packing is an excellent way of demonstrating to the public that the Cadets from the Air Training Corps are community spirited and willing to give up their spare time to raise funds for the Squadron. The public were very generous with their donations. These activities also develop interaction between Cadets from neighbouring Squadrons. This is not the first time of course that Southam and Daventry Cadets have worked and trained so well together.”
