On Sunday the 11 th September 2011 Cadets and Staff from 2028 (Southam) Squadron and 1368 (Warwick and Leamington) Squadron assembled at the Battle of Britain Memorial Plaque in Leamington Spa for the Annual Service of remembrance.

The Service, at 1500 hours, was arranged by the local Branch of the RAFA. The Memorial Plaque is situated in Euston Place alongside the Town War Memorial. Cadets and Staff have attended the service every year since it was relocated to its present position in 2006. It is very important for the Air Cadets to be there to remember those who fought in the Battle of Britain during World War Two. In fact they are proud to represent the Royal Air Force on these occasions.
Members of the Town and District Councils and the RAFA were also present as a short Service was conducted. They were joined by both members of the public and a number of Ex Service people.
The Standards of the local Branches of the Royal British Legion, Royal Naval Association and Royal Air Force Association were present, together with the Banners from the two Air Training Corps Squadrons represented at the Service. The Standards and Banners were dipped in remembrance of those who gave their lives during those few short months in 1940 that we now call the ‘Battle of Britain.’

Warrant Officer Storer-Rogers, the Learning and Development Officer for 2028 Squadron said after the Service, “Events like these are very important to the history of our Country and for the Cadets and Staff from two Squadrons to turn out in such numbers truly demonstrates that the younger generation still appreciate the sacrifices made by the Airmen and women during what we have come to call the ‘Battle of Britain .’ “
