Bowling along after 6 months of success

On Monday the 5 th July 2010 32 Cadets and staff from 2028 Squadron went ten-pin bowling in Coventry to celebrate their first 6 months of 2010. They also got the chance to show the staff how to ‘shoot' in Laser Quest. The Squadron Learning and Development Officer, WO Storer-Rogers had organised the event.

Five staff went along and helped with the transport and it was also the first outing for the newly acquired Squadron Mini Bus which acquitted itself very well! Lance Corporal Forrest came up from Aldershot to join the party and demonstrated to everyone that not only can he teach drill very well; he can also eat a rather large plate of food. The atmosphere was lively, exciting and everyone enjoyed them selves both as members of the Air Training Corps but also as a group of young people out to have a good time together.

So far in 2010 the Squadron has achieved the best overall position ever at Wing Field Day, done better than ever in the Drill Competition and continues to win ‘Gold' in sport. Recruiting continues at a pace and with continued support to and from the local community and Council, developing contacts at Southam College and Kineton Army Camp, the Squadron is truly an integral part of the fabric of Southam and its surrounding Villages.

Flight Lieutenant Moreton, CO of 2028 Squadron remarked after attempting to eat an incredibly large Burger, “My Squadron is having the best period in its recent history, the Cadets are working together really well and clearly on occasions like this they are ready to have fun together and just simply relax and chill out, they all thoroughly deserve it.”
