On Bank Holiday Monday the 28th May 2007 three members of Staff and a Cadet from 2028 Squadron held a Recruiting Day at Southam Carnival. The day was cold and quite wet for most of the time but a considerable number of local people turned out for the Carnival which had been organised by the local Branch of the Lions.

The Adjutant, Pilot Officer Hicks and Cadet Thomas Holden followed the main Carnival procession collecting on behalf of the Lions while the CO, Flight Lieutenant Moreton and WO Storer-Rogers set up and prepared the Wing Recruiting Trailer on the nearby recreation ground, together with many representatives of other local organisations from Southam.

When the main procession arrived, everyone got into the spirit of the day and despite the poor weather, a number of young people approached the Stand and expressed a sincere interest in joining the Air Cadets. In fact a number of adults also took away the current recruiting pamphlets on becoming an Adult in the Air Training Corps.

The day was a success in that it reminded the people of Southam, young and old, that their local Air Training Corps Squadron is alive and well and looking for new recruits.

Both the incoming and outgoing Mayors of the Town visited the Stand and promised to do all they could to advertise the Squadron and the Lions also said that they would look towards giving the Unit greater prominence in their literature.

Flight Lieutenant Moreton said after the event, "It was a cold, windy and mostly wet day but at least we achieved our objective of being seen and taking the opportunity of inviting the youngsters of the Town to come along and see us and see more of what the ATC has to offer. It was also great to be visited by the Mayor and a number of local Councilors, all of whom offered their continued support."
