On 12th December 2011 Flight Lieutenant Moreton, CO of 2028 Squadron called Staff Cadet Flight Sergeant Callum Brown forward on final parade and informed him that he was improperly dressed. Flt Lt Moreton then told everyone present that he had received Flight Sergeant Brown's Warrant from Headquarters Air Cadets and that he was now promoted Cadet Warrant Officer. The CO then presented Staff Cadet CWO Brown with his ‘Warrant.'
CWO Brown joined 2028 Squadron in 2007 and it quickly became obvious that he had great leadership potential achieving Corporal in September 2008. He has attended both Junior NCO and Drill/Development Courses and achieved a Credit in both. He was promoted to Cadet Flight Sergeant on the 18 th January 2010. He also attended a Work Experience Course in 2010 with the RAF Regiment where he gained a recommendation as a potential ‘gunner.' He achieved his Gold D of E at the end of 2010. He has Wing and Regional Blues for Rugby in 2009, 2010 and more recently in 2011. He is a Master Air Cadet having gained a credit in his exams. He was appointed Lord Lieutenant's Cadet for the Air Training Corps in Warwickshire on the 31 st March this year. He recently completed his MOI Course and successfully presented a lecture before both the Wing LADO and his Deputy on Squadron. On Wednesday the 30 th November, he had the honour to attend St James Palace in London where he received his Gold D of E in the presence of the Duke of Edinburgh.
Newly promoted Staff Cadet CWO Brown remarked, ‘I have enjoyed every minute of being an Air Cadet but this year has been the highlight so far, being appointed Lord Lieutenant's Cadet and now being promoted to the highest rank any Cadet can achieve is very special.'
Flight Lieutenant Moreton commented after the parade, ‘CWO Brown is a valuable asset to the Staff at 2028 Squadron, he is a smart, efficient and well respected young man. He is liked by all who come into contact with him, Cadets and Staff alike. This promotion is the pinnacle of his service at 2028, we are all very proud of his success.'
