Farewell Presentation by Service Instructor L/Cpl Forrest RMP

L/Cpl Forrest presents the stick to Flight Sergeant BrownOn Monday the 16th August 2010 L/Cpl Forrest RMP, who has been helping 2028 Squadron as a Service Instructor, announced to the Cadets and Staff on Parade that he had received orders for an overseas posting. He would be leaving in the next few weeks and would be away for the next 6 months.

L/Cpl Forrest who is an ex Cadet from 2028 Squadron, had helped to train the Drill Squad earlier in the year which resulted in them getting the highest position at Wing Training Day for many years.

He has developed a sound working relationship with both the Cadets and Staff with his knowledge of Drill, discipline and Field Craft, although some of them have found him a little 'scary.'

On final Parade the CO handed over to L/Cpl Forrest so he could say a few words to the Cadets. To everyone's surprise he produced a 'swagger stick' which had a silver RMP Badge on one end and a silver tip on the other. He had decided to present the stick to the Squadron for it to be passed to the senior Cadet at 2028 of Sergeant Rank or above.

The present senior Cadet of the Squadron is Flight Sergeant Brown, so he was called forward and presented by L/Cpl Forrest with the stick as the first Cadet of 2028 Squadron to hold the award.

L/Cpl Forrest commented, "I have enjoyed my time with the Cadets at 2028 and although this posting has come as a surprise it is all part of the job I joined to do. I will miss the Cadets but the 6 months will soon pass and I have a lot more ideas for 2011 to help the Squadron to develop."

The CO of 2028 Squadron, Flight Lieutenant Moreton remarked, "L/Cpl Forrest is a perfect example of what a serving member of our Armed Forces is all about, he is a credit to the Royal Military Police and himself. The award he has presented to the Squadron is fantastic; I know Flight Sergeant Brown and his successors will take great care of it. We all wish Steve Forrest good luck for the future."
