On the 21 st May 2007 2028 Squadron were delighted to announce that they have been awarded £9113.00 by the Lottery Fund. The money, which is given as part of the Awards for All Scheme, is the culmination of a lot of hard work done by the Civilian Committee, in particular the Secretary, Mrs. Lynda Scriven , to whom the Squadron holds a great debt of gratitude.

In 2006 Mrs. Scriven approached the Squadron Staff and Cadets inviting them to compile a 'wish' list of items of equipment they would like for the Squadron. Very quickly a long list of equipment was put together and Mrs. Scriven set about completing an application form to the Lottery, asking for money to purchase every single item listed.

The CO, Flight Lieutenant Moreton, then approached Warwickshire Police and asked them if they would 'sponsor' the application. This they readily agreed to do. Once the application was completed, everyone had to sit back and wait to see if the bid had been successful.

So it was with great delight that confirmation was received from Awards for All that not only had the application been successful but the whole amount had been granted.

The Grant will be used to purchase various items of IT equipment, sports kit, smart boards for the classrooms and other items essential to making life for the Cadets a whole lot more interesting, including many D of E essentials.

On hearing the news Flight Lieutenant Moreton said," I would like to thank our Civilian Committee, particularly Mrs. Lynda Scriven , for their fantastic work in making this happen, we can now purchase everything on the 'wish list'. I would also like to express our sincere thanks to Warwickshire Police for their support in our application. This is a wonderful example of how our Police are willing to help the Young people of Warwickshire but particularly those who wish to join the Air Training Corps in Southam."
