On Wednesday the 16th June 2010 4 Cadets from 2028 (Southam) Squadron attended the RAF Presentation Team Civic event held at the Pump Room Gardens in Leamington Spa.
The event was part of a Country wide series of professional presentations being given by the Royal Air Force to local people. The Leamington event was one of a number of Civic presentations, with the Mayor and other local dignitaries on hand to chat with the visitors and young people who came along to see what the modern RAF offers to potential recruits.
There were both Regular and Reserve staff on hand to discuss futures jobs with the RAF. The dynamic presentation which lasted about 30 minutes included a video showing the various jobs in the Royal Air Force and an opportunity to ask questions. Everyone then enjoyed a more informal opportunity to chat with the members of the team over a drink and a buffet, all provided by the team.
The 4 Cadets from 2028 Squadron had expressed a previous interest in the Royal Air Force as a career; in fact Flight Sergeant Callum Brown has already been on work experience with the RAF Regiment so he was keen to learn more.
Flight Lieutenant Moreton, CO of 2028 Squadron, remarked, “We were invited to send some Cadets to this event which is by invitation only, so I was delighted that four of them could attend. Clearly these four are keen to join the Royal Air Force and to attend a Civic reception with the Royal Air Force and Mayor was quite an honour for them.”
