On Thursday the 17 th March 2011 Mrs Lynda Scriven, the Secretary of the Civilian Committee at 2028 Southam Squadron received the wonderful news that for the second time in recent years the Squadron has been given a grant from Warwickshire County Council. This time they have donated no less than £700.
The money will be spent on the purchase of new sports equipment for the Cadets. It will allow the Squadron to buy the following kit -
A complete set of Soccer kit, shirts, shorts, socks etc with 2028 Squadron emblems, a complete set of Netball kit with 2028 Squadron emblems and more Squadron T Shirts and Sports Jackets. One of the Cadet NCOs, Corporal Hazel Mann, had approached the Committee previously with some detailed research and estimates of cost to buy this kit and now her hard work will be rewarded.
On hearing the news the Civilian Committee Secretary, Mrs Lynda Scriven, remarked, "The offer of further funds from Warwickshire County Council came out of the blue and we are delighted that they have accepted the manner in which we intend to spend the money. The Cadets will benefit once again and I can't thank the Council enough for their continued generosity."
Flight Lieutenant Moreton CO of 2028 Squadron, commented, "The support that we receive from Warwickshire County Council is fantastic, the Cadets have always wanted their own sports strips with 2028 logos and now we can buy them, great news from our hard working Committee and a great result for the hard work done by Corporal Mann on behalf of the Squadron."
