On Monday the 24th January 2011 Cadets and Staff from 2028 Southam Squadron went to Tay barns in Coventry and then on to Sector 7 where they enjoyed two games of Laser quest. The party had been intended to go ahead before Christmas to celebrate another successful year but due to the snow it had been cancelled. So everyone was looking forward to it even more than usual. The evening had been organised by Warrant Officer Storer-Rogers, the Squadron Learning and Development Officer.
Unfortunately timing is never good for everyone and most of the senior Cadet NCOs had to stay at home and do Course work; such is life when you are 17!
However 25 Cadets did turn up and enjoyed a great meal at Tay barns or it should be said in the case of most of them, 'several' meals! It was the first time 2028 Squadron had been to the Restaurant and a one off price for as much as you can eat went down very well with Cadets and Staff alike!
After the meal everyone went next door to Sector 7 and had great fun with two games of laser quest. When they came out of the games area, it was very clear that a lot of effort had gone into 'winning' as virtually everyone was showing serious signs of fatigue and sweat!
One Cadet remarked before joining the transport home to Southam, “What a great night, so much food and a great time with all my friends.”
Flight Lieutenant Moreton, CO of 2028 Squadron remarked at the end of the evening, "I am a great believer that when the Cadets work hard and achieve another great year in 2010, they should have the opportunity to have fun as a group along with the staff. By going to Tay barns this time around everyone enjoyed as much food as they could eat before working it off in Sector 7!"
