On the 26 th June 6 Cadets and 5 staff from 2030 (Elmdon & Yardley) Squadron assisted with the annual Bournville Village festival sponsored by Cadbury, comprising of fundraising stalls, recruiting stalls, fair rides, displays and the days main event, the Maypole.
During the day Cadets manned a successful fundraising stall to help raise money for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity and an Air Cadet tent to promote the Air Training Corps. The event, organised by the Bournville Village Council was coupled with Armed Forces Day and a strong turn out of armed forces personnel were present from all three services as well as the emergency services.
The Cadets main duty was to take part in the Maypole by providing an honour guard and escorting the Bournville Festival Queen 2010 in the event. Also present was the Lord Mayor of Birmingham who stopped by the Cadet tent to talk with the staff and Cadets. Thankfully the weather was nice and sunny making the day more enjoyable.
Cadet Morgan aged 14 said "what a fab day really enjoyable and super to meet all the armed forces"
