After over six and a half years with 2030 (Elmdon & Yardley) Sqn, Cdt FS Sam Hanna has been promoted to the rank of Cadet Warrant Officer. Sam was promoted on final parade on Wednesday 17th March by Flt Lt Bennett, the Commanding Officer.
Sam joined the Squadron in 2003 at the age of thirteen, and has gained plenty of experience over the six years in the ATC. Achievements have included completing the Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh's awards, reaching the classification of staff cadet, and gaining a distinction in the BTEC Public Services.
During the time at the squadron Sam has attended three annual camps at RAF Marham, RAFC Cranwell and most recently RAF Boulmer, also taking part in the last Nesscliff Challenge, where the squadron came 4th in the wing with a team of only six cadets, also in 2007 the Land Command Cadet Leadership course and the Wing Drill Development Course. During this time he has had air experience flights in the Tutor, Dominie and Sea King aircraft.
In the past few years Sam has taken part in mountain expeditions in Snowdonia, attended an Engineer Officer work experience course and has also completed courses to be Qualified to Conduct Weapons Handling Tests and also to be a Weapons Instructor.
As an NCO on the squadron roles include administering the 2030sqn.org website, organising NCO's, cadet training and also the Squadron drill team. Sam is currently studying Aerospace Engineering at Coventry University, and has already completed a National Diploma in Aerospace Engineering, so therefore has a role in cadet Aviation Studies.
