Glider Pilot and first Master Cadet

Sergeant Jordan AllenSergeant Jordan Allen of 2030 (Elmdon & Yardley) Squadron Air Training Corps has been awarded his gliding grade 1 status, enabling him to instruct cadets the Gliding Induction Course syllabus. Jordan has been part of 633 Volunteer Gliding School which operates the Vigilant aircraft at DCAE Cosford since 2009.

As a flight staff cadet he has completed his GIC, Gliding Scholarship and he still enjoys gliding with many hours of flight time under his belt. Jordan said that "I'm so proud to have been awarded my Grade 1 status...being only 17 and having such a responsibility is such an un-real feeling."

Jordan has also been presented by the Commanding Officer with his Master Air Cadet classification, the first presentation of the new Master Air Cadet badge on 2030 Squadron. Jordan had previously completed the old Staff Cadet Part 1 syllabus and was eligible for the new classification.

Jordan commented that "it has taken a while to get through all of my exams up to this stage but it was most certainly worthwhile." Jordan is now eligible to take part in a Wing Method of Instruction course to further advance his cadet career and gain his yellow lanyard.
