Air Cadets are helped to prepare for later life

Cadets at 2286 Arden Squadron Air Cadets have recently been put through a gruelling selection process in order to help them prepare for later life and to gain the rank of cadet corporal. Three cadets, Simon Connell (aged 16) Martin Opie (aged 18) and Philip Gullick (aged 14) were asked to prepare for a selection interview with three staff and one cadet NCO (Non Commissioned Officer). Questions were asked about leadership and teamwork.

“Before the interview I wasn't nervous at all and thought everything was going to be ok. I chose to be first so I could just get it out the way and I went in” said Cadet Corporal Connell. “The questions weren't as tough as I thought they were going to be but I still had to prepare myself for the next question each time” he added.

After the interview the three candidates were all successful and promoted accordingly. Adult Sgt Stewart was very impressed the cadets, “They showed great character” he said.

The task was designed not only to select the best candidates, but to help them prepare for interviews that they may have in adult life.
