A medal for Mallon

Cadets from 2438 (Bishop Ullathorne) Squadron took part in Warwickshire and Birmingham Wing's cross country race at Tudor Grange in Solihull on Sunday 22 November.

In style the heavens opened just as the first race got underway but this didn't stop the cadets from 2438 (Bishop Ullathorne) Squadron going extremely well and completing the course.

The horrible weather did not stop one cadet from the squadron managing to come third in the junior class A race, winning 2438's first medal of the year and Cadet Mallon's first medal in the Air Training Corps.

Cadet Mallon kept his position all the way around the course and though it was an extremely hard race, he managed to complete the course in good time and only a few seconds behind the first and second placed cadets.

Cadet Mallon will now go onto represent the Warwickshire and Birmingham Wing at the Regional race on Sunday 6 December at RAF Cranwell.

Flt Lt Nathan Adams, Commanding Officer on 2438 Squadron said ' It was very pleasing to see Cadet Mallon's effort in the Cross Country being rewarded. The inclement weather made the race very hard going and to achieve the position he did took a lot of hard work and determination. He is an inspiration to all of his peers and has shown what is achievable with a little hard work and dedication.'
