Go-Karting Endurance Challenge

2438 celebrated the last parade of the year by undertaking a Go-Karting Endurance Challenge at the Coventry Go-Karting Centre.

Following a safety brief explaining what all of the different lights and flags meant on the circuit, the cadets had over 2 hours of track time. The Cadets were firstly given instruction in how to drive the Karts around the indoor circuit, as this was a first time experience for many of them. After this instruction, over a number of practice laps, the Cadets were split into teams to complete a Le Mans style Endurance Race.

Each Cadet was sent out in the Kart to complete a pre-determined number of laps before being called into the pits and the driver swapped for another member of the team. The drivers then took it in turned to complete laps around the circuit. When the chequered flag fell at the end of the two hours the winning Red team had completed a total of 134 laps.

Flight Lieutenant Nathan Adams, Officer Commanding 2438 (Bishop Ullathorne) Squadron said: ' The Go-Karting has been a great success with the Cadets. It yet again shows the sort of opportunities available to members of the Air Training Corps. It was also a great end for what has been a successful year for 2438 Squadron'
