On Friday 20 November Cadets and Staff from 2438 (Bishop Ullathorne) Squadron attended the Kenilworth Christmas light switch on organised by The Council and supported by The Kenilworth Rotary Club and Round Table.
Fire spinners, ferret racing and a static bird of prey display formed part of the attractions for the town's Christmas lights switch-on.
This was a special occasion for the cadets as not only did they attend to offer assistance they had also donated money to sponsor a light on one of Kenilworth 's many Christmas trees, The Tree of Light.
The Rotary Clubs Tree of Light is displayed in Talisman Square in the town every year and is in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. A ll the lights on the tree are sponsored by the town's residents in dedication for a lost loved one.
The cadets wanted a light to shine on the tree to remember all of the fallen in past and current conflicts. The lights will shine every night from now until the New Year.
Flight Lieutenant Nathan Adams, Officer Commanding 2438 Squadron said: 'At this time of seasonal festivity it is fitting that 2438 Squadron have taken the time to remember all of the fallen in past and current conflicts. Christmas this year will be tinged with sadness for many relatives of people who have made the ultimate sacrifice for this country and we would like to comfort them in the knowledge that their loss has not been in vain and they will always be remembered.' |
