2438 (Bishop Ullathorne) Squadron Air Cadets held an open evening / presentation evening on Friday 26 November at the Jaguar Car Sports & Social Club in Radford Coventry.
As well as the squadrons annual cadet presentations the evening was aimed at promoting the squadron to teenagers who were interested in becoming A ir C adets.
The cadets put on displays in the function room including ; field craft, flying & gliding and a Duke of Edinburgh Award expedition . The public flocked through the door with many teenagers wanting to try out the Squadron's flight simulator which was also on display.
The event was attended by Coventry's Deputy Lord Mayor Councillor Keiran Mulhall, the Leamington RAFA, and Warwickshire and Birmingham Wings Squadron Leader Martin Harrison, who all presented awards to the cadets.
The top awards that were presented to the Cadets were;
- Best NCO - Presented by Flight lieutenant Nathan Adams was awarded to Flight Sergeant John Ormsby.
- Best new recruit - Presented by Squadron Leader Martin Harrison was awarded to Cadet Callum Holland.
- Cadet of the Year- Presented by Coventry 's Deputy Lord Mayor Councillor Keiran Mulhall was awarded to Corporal Andrew Reed.
As well as presenting awards to the cadets, Group Captain Raymond MacDonald from , 310 Leamington Branch RAFA , presented the Squadron with an adoption certificate to recognise a mutual support for the RAFA, ATC and the RAF, and to encourage the cadets to support them throughout the year. Flight lieutenant Nathan Adams, Commanding Officer 2438 Squadron said “'It was a privilege to award the hard work and outstanding efforts of the Cadets as well as forging links with the local community.”
