2438 (Bishop Ullathorne) Squadron recently received a visit from the RAF Youth Outreach Team based at RAFC Cranwell. The team were in the area as part of a tour of local schools and colleges as part of their remit to promote a career in the Royal Air Force to the wider community.
The presentation consisted of various sections which covered different aspects of RAF life. The various trades in the RAF were discussed as well as the public perception of the Royal Air Force and how life in the RAF is so much more varied than most people realise. The different social aspects of life in the RAF were also detailed as well as the amazing array of sporting past times available to members of the RAF. A question and answer session was then held with the team. During the presentation the Cadets were given various items of RAF merchandise in response to both asking and answering questions. The team also got the Cadets involved in a number of practical exercises, as well as videos which helped the Cadets think about life in the Royal Air Force and the RAF's
Flight Lieutenant Nathan Adams, Officer Commanding 2438 Squadron said: " My thanks must go out to the RAF Youth Outreach Team for coming to 2438 Squadron and giving an excellent presentation to the Cadets, which was done in their spare time and is outside of the teams normal remit. I think that every member of 2438 Squadron learnt a lot of information that they didn't previously know about life in the RAF and it has spurred a number of the Cadets on to looking at a career in the RAF" |
