Cadets from 2438 (Bishop Ullathorne) Squadron showed their respects during Coventry’s 2010 Remembrance Service.
The cadets from 2438 (Bishop Ullathorne) Squadron joined veterans from the Royal British Legion, ex-service organisations, serving personnel, other Coventry Air Cadet Squadrons, The Army Cadet Force, Coventry Corp of drums and other youth groups to march along Spencer Avenue with the Coventry Corps of Drums leading the procession through to the Cenotaph in the War Memorial park for the Remembrance Service.
The Remembrance Service took place on Sunday 14 th November and was conducted by The Right Reverend Dr. Christopher Cocksworth Lord Bishop of Coventry. During the service the crowd stood in silence as the standards were dipped in salute as the bugler sounded the Last Post.
Hymns were sung by Mrs. Eileen Wakelin, the Exhortation was recited by ex serviceman Mr. Sid Watson and the Lord Mayor’s Cadets for 2010 and the KOHIMA was recited by Wreath Marshal ex-serviceman Mr James Ramsey, BEM.
Flt Lt Nathan Adams laid a wreath on behalf of 2438 (Bishop Ullathorne) Squadron and Cadet Flight Sergeant John Ormsby marched with the Squadron banner.
Flight Lieutenant Nathan Adams, Officer Commanding 2438 Squadron said :“ It was very pleasing to see so many cadets from 2438 (Bishop Ullathorne) Squadron on the remembrance Sunday Parade. It is important for the cadets to recognise the sacrifices made in the name of freedom, both over the past conflicts as well as current operations.”
