Recently 38 Cadets and staff of 2438 (Bishop Ullathorne) Squadron held a Squadron Social Evening to celebrate the Squadron's achievements in the Wing Training Day as well as marking 3 years since Flt Lt Nathan Adams took over at 2438 Squadron.
The staff of 2438 Squadron prepared a Barbeque for the Cadets, who were undertaking a number of activities whilst waiting for the food to be prepared. This was to mark the Cadets efforts in winning the Diorama Competition at the Wing Training Day and a second place in the PR Competition. The event was also attended by Sqn Ldr Martin Harrison, the Squadron's Wing Staff Officer.
As mentioned previously the event also marked 3 years since Flt Lt Adams took over at 2438 Squadron, initially as a secondment on a caretaker basis from 84 Squadron before becoming Officer in Charge and then finally Officer Commanding in 2007.
Flt Lt Nathan Adams said: "It gives me immense pleasure in seeing just how much 2438 Squadron has grown in the 3 years I have been here. When I initially started at the Squadron the average parade strength was 6 Cadets, with the Squadron facing a real threat of closure. Now 3 years down the line, with a lot of hard effort from all of the 2438 team, we are now up to 38 Cadets. The efforts in training over the last 3 years are also starting to show in terms of the first Wing Trophies. This is quite a turn around for a Squadron that was facing imminent closure when I arrived. I am very proud of everyone at 2438 Squadron for all of their hard work."
