500 Hours for two VInspired Teenagers

500 Hours for two VInspired TeenagersTwo Cadet NCOs from 2438 (Bishop Ullathorne) Squadron Air Training Corps have notched up 500 volunteering hours between them in the past year.

Cadet Corporal Liam Matthews and Cadet Sergeant John Ormsby were awarded their 250 Hour Vinspired Award after taking part in the many activities the Squadron has to offer, from JNCO courses to Duke of Edinburgh awards; from sports to first aid. They also helped out at many local community events such as the Coventry Annual Donkey Derby, Kenilworth 's 2 Castles Run and the Coventry Half Marathon where they assisted the organisers during the events.

The Vinspired awards are a recognised scheme for 16-25 year olds in England . The scheme has been designed to help celebrate the efforts made by young volunteers. It is designed to show colleges, universities and potential employers the positive impact that young volunteers have on their communities. It is also a powerful way to recognise, and reward the contribution made by young volunteers to any organisations, as well as helping change societies perceptions of young people.

The awards also help the volunteers to reflect on the positive impacts of their contributions to organisations.

Any cadet aged 16 or above can apply to take part in the award scheme and it is completely free for them to do so.

Flight Lieutenant Nathan Adams, Officer Commanding 2438 Squadron said: ' It is very pleasing to see the Cadets given these awards as it demonstrates a clear commitment both to the Squadron and the wider community as a whole. To see two young adults give up so much of their free time to help others is a positive role model to all.'
