2438 Cadets with Shaun the sheepStaff and Cadets from 2438 (Bishop Ullathorne) Squadron Air Training Corps braved the extremely cold weather on Sunday December 20 to stand outside wrapping Christmas presents to help raise money for the Help for Heroes Campaign.

The volunteers offered a present wrapping service in the Lower Precinct for a small donation. The donations received will all go towards the Help for Heroes Campaign. Literature and Help for Heroes wristbands were also available.

The present wrapping event went ahead thanks to a donation made by Tesco. The wrapping paper, bows and ribbons were all donated by Tesco Cross Point Extra in Walsgrave, Coventry . The Christmas wrap raised £311.37 for the Help for Heroes campaign and as well as wrapping presents the cadets got to rub shoulders with Shaun the sheep who was saying hello the shoppers in the city.

Shoppers commented on how it was great to see the Cadets giving up their time for this very worthwhile cause and how it's not often you see youngster raising money for charity.

Roni Tillman 2438 Squadrons Media and Communications Officer said: “The Squadron has done many fundraising activities in 2009 for the Help for Heroes Campaign and it only seemed right to end the year fundraising for them once again. I must thank Tesco Cross Point for their kind donation and the management at the Lower Precinct for allowing us to use their space.”
