29F (Rugby) Squadron have made it to the wing inter-squadron football final at RAF Cosford after beating 2030 Squadron (Elmdon and Yardley) 2-1 in a nail biting semi-final at Harris Sports Centre on Sunday 7 th March 2010.

The game got of to a lively start with 29F getting an early penalty but were unable to convert this into a much needed goal. However, shortly after that 29F went 1-0 up thanks to some brilliant play by Cpl. Alex Moulten and Flt. Sgt. Ben Davies down the left hand side. This was only to be doubled 10 minutes later when Sgt. Alex Menzies scored the second for 29F, who seemed to be cruising for a great win until 2030 Squadron scored on the counter attack. The score line remained the same for the rest of the 1 st half thanks to some great defending by Cdt. Connor White, Cpl. Sam German, Cpl. Daniel Curtis and Cpl. Alex Moulten.

During the 2 nd half 2030 Squadron threatened the 29F defence and forced keeper Cdt. James Webb into making some good saves from close range. 2030 carried on their offensive play well until the dying minutes when a corner whipped into 2030s keeper needing a finger tip save to keep 29F on their winning streak and sending 29F into the final for the first time in squadron history!

29F showed great team work and definitely deserved a place in the final thanks to an all round team effort.
