Twelve Cadets from 29F (Rugby) Squadron and ten Cadets from 198 (Hinckley) Squadron set off for the Peak District in order to complete their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh's expedition on a cold 30 th October Morning.
The weather was dull to begin with, but soon brightened up and gave full sunny skies, which paralleled the Cadet's mood, as everyone seemed in high spirits. Excellent navigation was achieved from the cadets, and all the groups reached their checkpoints and campsite in good time. Once the tents were set up and the Cadets had cooked and eaten a warm meal, it was time for some well deserved rest.
Everyone was up early on Sunday morning, and the selected route took the cadets through spectacular scenery, crossing valleys, over rivers and exploring through woods. The Cadets reached the end of the route on time and everyone's moral was high.
Eight Cadets who attended the weekend passed their Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme Bronze final and eleven Cadets achieved their Expedition practice.
Sgt (ATC) Lee Ison, 29F Squadron's D of E Assessor said: “I'm very proud of all the Cadets who completed the weekend; it was a very successful weekend and was great to see the Cadets use their navigational skills to complete the routes. This area does present as a challenging location being physically and mentally demanding to complete. Congratulations to you all.”
